The Future Ain't What It Used to Be

According to my (admittedly weak) understanding of the theory of relativity and time travel, you can only go forward in time. Therefore, any scientist who manages to time travel will only be able to go forward... to a time when time travel has already been invented.

So rather than being crowned a hero for managing to travel through time, he's going to be just another one of those guys from the past who keep popping up. I imagine this is going to be rather disappointing.
